Click ahead of the Table of Contents. Then, open the Table of Contents gallery, and click Custom Table of Contents > Options. The first three Heading Styles are mapped to the first three TOC levels. Scroll down to the new style, and map it to level 4, and click OK.

To change the number of levels displayed in your Table of Contents, click Show levels, and then click the number of levels you want.

Change an existing hyperlink Right-click anywhere on the link and, on the shortcut menu, click Edit Hyperlink. In the Edit Hyperlink dialog, select the text in the Text to display box. Type the text you want to use for the link, and then click OK.

Format or customize a table of contents Go to References > Table of Contents. Select Custom table of contents. Use the settings to show, hide, and align page numbers, add or change the tab leader, set formats, and specify how many levels of headings to show. For more info, see Custom table of contents .

In the existing table of contents, determine where you want to add an entry. Then, place the text cursor at the end of the entry above where you want the new entry. Press the Enter key to add a new blank line in the table of contents. Type the text for the new entry.

Select Custom Table of Contents. A dialog box appears. In the Show Levels box, enter the number of levels you want to include in the table of contents (such as 4). Click OK.

Editing hyperlinks Right-click the hyperlink. In the context menu, select Edit Hyperlink or Edit Link. The Edit Hyperlink dialog box appears. Select the desired options. Click OK.
