ELECT stands for Early Learning for Every Child Today. What is the purpose of the ELECT document? The purpose of the ELECT document is to guide and support curriculum in Ontario. This document complements Ontario Day Nurseries Act, Ontario Early Years Centre guidelines and the Kindergarten Program.

It includes their interactions with children during planned and child-initiated play and activities, communicating and modelling language, showing, explaining, demonstrating, exploring ideas, encouraging, questioning, recalling, providing a narrative for what they are doing, facilitating and setting challenges.

ELECT helps clarify these developmental markers for each age group and shows the approximate skills they should be learning at each age group. The domains are Social, Emotional, Communication, language, and literacy, Cognitive, and Physical.
