Extend Date Record For Free

The TIMESTAMP data type is used for values that contain both date and time parts. TIMESTAMP has a range of '1970-01-01 :01' UTC to '2038-01-19 :07' UTC. A DATETIME or TIMESTAMP value can include a trailing fractional seconds part in up to microseconds (6 digits) precision.

Using the Date and Now Functions in Access Open any table that contains a date field. Click the table design view. Select the date/time field. In the field properties section at the bottom of the design view screen, make the following changes: Choose your date/time Format. Set the Default Value to =Date().

Right-click the document tab for the new table and click Design View. In the Field Name column, select the first blank row, and then type a name for the field. Select the adjacent cell in the Data Type column, and then select Date/Time or Date/Time Extended from the list. Save your changes.

Keyboard shortcut In an Access desktop database, press the Ctrl key and the semicolon (;) simultaneously to fill the selected field with the current date.

In the SetValue action box, in the Item box, type or paste Time Modified. In the Expression box, type Time(). Press CTRL+S, and then in the Save As dialog box, type Last Modified.

Open the Access report or form in Design view or Layout view. On the Design tab, in the Header / Footer group, click Date and Time. The Date and Time dialog box appears.

In the Navigation Pane, double-click the table to which you want to add the time stamp field. Access opens the table in Datasheet view. In the first blank column labeled Click to Add, select Date & Time from the drop-down list of data types. Access creates a new field and then displays a temporary field name.
