Contact the GTL® AdvancePay® Service Department. We require a written request to be mailed or faxed by the owner of the account for a refund. GTL® strives to process refunds within 30 days (and after verifying initial payment method), and typically within 60 days, at the latest.

On August 30, 2022, the federal court for the Northern District of Georgia granted final approval to a class-action settlement in a suit accusing prison telecom giant Global Tel*Link (GTL) of unjust enrichment by seizing funds from prisoner phone accounts after as little as 90 days of inactivity.

GTL will credit or refund 100% of the amount that GTL retained from your account due to inactivity. Payments to former customers may be reduced if the total credits/ refunds exceed the available Settlement fund.

Illinois residents who used the platform between August 2015 and August 2023 might be eligible for part of a $68.5 million settlement. It's the result of a class-action lawsuit claiming Meta, which owns Instagram and Facebook, violated Illinois' Biometric Information Privacy Act.

New Brunswick did not have any Indian residential schools, but 12 Indian day schools operated in the province at various times between 1880 and 1992. The final school to close was in Metepengiag. Indigenous children were often sent to the Shubenacadie residential school in Nova Scotia.

Under the settlement agreement, the government will compensate each eligible survivor class member from $10,000 to $200,000, based on the harm they experienced. The government will also create a Legacy Fund of $200 million for commemoration, health, and wellness projects, and language and culture initiatives.

The Canadian government and the Roman Catholic, Anglican, United, and Presbyterian churches operated nearly 700 Indian Day Schools across Canada, in every province and territory except for Newfoundland. Indian Day Schools operated for over a century, from the 1860s to 1990s.

The settlement agreement includes $10,000 in individual compensation for all persons who attended an Indian Residential School as a day scholar during the day, but did not sleep there overnight. A list of Indian Residential Schools included in this settlement is found in Schedule E of the agreement.
