How many times can I renew my permit? You may continue to renew your permit as long as your physical is valid.

Can I renew it? A: No. Once your permit expires, you must complete the application process and retake your learner's permit exam again.

Your teen learner's permit will be valid for two years, starting on the date on which it was issued, or until you turn 18, whichever comes first. If you don't get your driver's license by this time, your learner's permit will expire and you will have to renew it.

Eligible permits are extended six months from the date of expiration or to a date 24 months from the date of application, whichever is earlier. The DMV previously extended permits expiring between March 1 and November 30, 2020.

You may renew your PA Driver's Permit in person at PennDOT, via mail, or online. However, if you want to renew online, there are some caveats: Only non-commercial vehicle licenses are permitted to apply for online renewals.
