Page breaks will exist on every page of any multi-page document, and they are essential to creating a relationship between pages, allowing consistent formatting from page to page. In other words, whatever adjustments you make on one page?orientation, margins, columns, footers?will be applied to all pages.

To insert a manual page break using a keyboard: If necessary, click the Home tab in the Ribbon and then click Show/Hide ¶. Place the insertion point where you want the break to appear. Press Ctrl + Enter. A page break will appear with a dotted line and the word Page Break.

In a word processor, such as Microsoft Word, a section break splits your document's pages into sections with customizable formats or layouts. For example, you could create pages that have different headers and footers.

Turn the display of formatting marks on or off Go to File > Help > Options > Display. Under Always show these formatting marks on the screen, select the check box for each formatting mark that you always want to display regardless if the Show/Hide. button is turned on or off.
