Images licensed under the CC0 are free from copyright restrictions. This means you can copy, modify and distribute the work, even for commercial purposes, all without asking permission. Although CC0 doesn't legally require users to cite the source, it is often appreciated (and the right thing to do).

A Rights Managed license gives the user permission to use an image for a specific purpose only and the price charged relates to this usage. A Royalty Free license gives the user the right to use an image for any purpose and the price relates to the particular size of file that is purchased.

Copyright protection gives the owner the right to determine who copies, distributes or adapts the images for further use. The only way to legally use a copyrighted image is to obtain a license or an assignment from the copyright owner.

When it comes to using stock photos, there's several stock photo licenses you can buy: Royalty Free, Rights Managed, and Extended.

In order to license images and grant photo usage rights, you need to be either the author of the images, or otherwise authorized to license the images. For example, agencies are also authorized to license images if the author has contractually allowed them to be granted.

It is included with images purchased through subscriptions and standard image packs and allows you to use them for commercial purposes, but limits you to 500,000 copies and a $10,000 indemnity.

Fair Use comes allows you to use an image based on three conditions. First is if it used for limited non-profit and educational use. Second is if it is changed so drastically that it no longer has the same meaning or purpose, and third is if it is used informatively for the public good.
