[The information given in a footnote includes the author, the title, the place of publication, the publisher, the date of publication and the page or pages on which the quotation or information is found.]

Write your citation or additional information next to the number that appears in the footer. Format the information ing to the rules of your style guide. You can easily return to your place in the text by clicking the number at the beginning of the footnote.

How to Break Up Footnotes in Word Open your Word document. Select your footnote. Right-click and press Paragraph. Select the Line and Page Breaks tab. Uncheck the Keep lines together checkbox. Press Set as Default (if desired) and then press OK to save.

Click where you want to reference to the footnote or endnote. On the References tab, select Insert Footnote or Insert Endnote. Enter what you want in the footnote or endnote. Return to your place in the document by double-clicking the number or symbol at the beginning of the note.
