Footers are located in the margin area at the bottom of a page. Headers and footers generally contain document information, such as the file name, author, date created, page numbering and the like. This information is repeated on each page and thus enables the reader to easily navigate the document.

Create a Form Place the text cursor where you want to insert the form field. Go to Insert > Header or Footer. Choose from a list of standard headers or footers, go to the list of Header or Footer options, and select the header or footer that you want. Or, create your own header or footer by selecting Edit Header or Edit Footer. When you're done, select Close Header and Footer or press Esc.

On the Layout tab of the ribbon, click the arrow in the lower right corner of the Page Setup group. Set the margins the way you want. Click the 'Set as Default' button in the lower left corner of the dialog. Confirm that you want to change the default settings for page setup.
