While reading your PDF file online, you can add notes to yourself using the add comments tool. You can add text, sticky notes, underline text, strikethrough text, highlight text, and add markups using the drawing tool.

If a footnote is referenced in a table's header cell, add the note in a Paragraph tag below the table in the Tags tree. Place the Note tag (in a P) as the last tag for the page where it appears in the physical view. Use this option if the same footnote is referred to multiple times on the page.

Customize footnotes and endnotes On the Insert menu, click Footnote to open the Footnote and Endnote box. In the Footnote and Endnote box, select the options you want. Choose where you want to apply the changes?the whole document or the section you're in?and then click Insert.

Add footnotes and endnotes Click where you want to add the footnote. Click Insert > Insert Footnote. Word inserts a reference mark in the text and adds the footnote mark at the bottom of the page. Type the footnote text.

You have the option to restart footnote or endnote numbers so that numbering begins with 1 on each page or in each section. On the Insert menu, click Footnote. Under Format, in the Start at box, enter 1. On the Numbering pop-up menu, click the option that you want, and then click Apply.
