Students must earn the following 18 compulsory credits to obtain the Ontario Secondary School Diploma: 4 credits in English (1 credit per grade) 3 credits in Mathematics (at least 1 credit in Grade 11 or 12)

Written-response questions in Math 30?1 are worth five marks each and written-response questions in Math 30?2 are worth seven marks each. These questions require you to communicate your understanding of a math concept or apply an algebraic process to solve a problem.

Diploma exams are required in English 30-1 and 30-2, Social Studies 30-1 and 30-2, Mathematics 30-1 and 30-2, Biology 30, Chemistry 30, Physics 30, Science 30, Francais 30-1 and French Language Arts 30-1. Final marks in these courses represent a blend of school and provincial exam marks.

To graduate with an Adult Dogwood, students must have 5 courses required: A required Language Arts 12 course. A Math 11 or 12 course. At least three additional Grade 12 electives, or a Grade 11 Socials Studies course.

Each of these diploma exams is developed to be completed in 3 hours; however, you may take up to 6 hours to complete the exam, if needed. Special accommodations are available to some students, such as audio narration or a scribe.

Math diploma exams contain multiple-choice, numerical-response, and written-response questions.

To attain an Alberta High School Diploma, a student must earn a minimum of 100 credits by completing: 15 credits English (must complete 30-1 or 30-2) 15 credits Social Studies (must complete 30-1 or 30-2) 10 credits Mathematics (must complete 20 level)

Social Studies 10 (4 credits), and a Social Studies 11 or 12 (4 credits) A Math 10 (4 credits), and a Math 11 or 12 (4 credits) A Language Arts 10, 11 and a required 12 (12 credits total)

It is strongly recommended that old diplomas be kept and filed away, rather than tossed into the trash. Future employers reserve the right to request a physical copy of an applicant's diploma to authenticate their education.
