Fix Bookmark Form For Free

NOTE: If your Word window is wide enough, you can click directly on ?Bookmark? in the Links section. On the Bookmark dialog box, select the bookmark name you want to move, or reuse, and click ?Add?. The bookmark is moved to the newly selected text or new position in the document.

An error message appears instead of text Reference source not found.? when you update a field that has a broken link to a bookmark. You can restore the original text by pressing Ctrl+Z immediately after receiving the error message. You can press Ctrl+Shift+F9 to convert the text in the field to regular text.

Click ?OK? and then select a bookmark. Once you've selected a bookmark, enter a new name for that bookmark in the edit box in the Add/Rename Bookmark section and then click ?Rename?.

Click Insert > Bookmark. Click either Name or Location to sort the list of bookmarks in the document. Click the name of the bookmark you want to delete, and then click Delete. If you have inserted a hyperlink to the deleted bookmark, right-click the linked text and then click Remove Hyperlink.

Click to select the Hidden bookmarks check box to view the list of hidden bookmarks. In the list of bookmarks, click the bookmark that you want to remove, and then click Delete.

If a bookmark can no longer be found, you'll get the message you're seeing. You can try using Ctrl+Shift+F9 to make the TOC fully static text, or Ctrl+F11 to lock the TOC field so it can't update. But before you do, you should probably compare the TOC with the pages it references to make sure everything is correct.
