What is eID? eID is a set of services provided by the European Commission to enable the mutual recognition of national electronic identification schemes (eID) across borders. It allows European citizens to use their national eIDs when accessing online services from other European countries.

To apply for your eID card, you will need to completely fill out and present an application form along with a valid identity document issued by your home country, e.g. a passport or a national identity card. Your address will be stored on the chip of the eID card.

Log in with eID card reader Connect your eID card reader to your computer. Insert your electronic identity card (eID), foreigner's card or kids-ID into the card reader. Click 'Log in', select your certificate and enter the PIN of your identity card when asked to do so.

If you don't have an eID or electronic foreigner's card and you wish to have access to the online services of the government, then you can register at a registration office. Find out from your local municipality if they offer this service. Or you can go to a municipality with a local registration office.
