A complete and valid licence to fish consists of an Outdoor Card accompanied by a valid Licence Tag. This applies to Canadian and to U.S. Citizens. Both can be obtained either online or from one of the many licence issuers or Ontario Welcome Centres near the border.

You can get another hard copy printed at any Licence Vendor. There may be a fee in either case. You will need to provide your angler number, date of birth and phone number.

1. Every angler who is 16 years of age or older will need to buy a Basic Licence which allows him or her to fish in the non-tidal waters of BC.

Everyone that is between the ages of 16 and 65 need a valid fishing license in each Province of Canada that you fish in. If you are going to fish all across Canada you will need a total of 13 fishing licenses for all of the Provinces and Territories.

A printer is required to print your permit at home. In person - at participating retailers, Manitoba Government offices and parks. By phone - through the elicensing Help Desk at 1-877-880-1203 - 8 am to 9 pm, 7 days per week for those individuals who do not have online connectivity, but are able to pay by credit card.

You must buy an Outdoors Card before you can buy a fishing licence. However, you can buy a one-day sport fishing licence without an Outdoors Card. When you buy or renew your Outdoors Card, you will get a plastic card mailed to you. This will have your fishing licence printed on the back.
