There should be two numbering series: one for tables and one for figures (e.g. Table 1., Table 2. AND Figure 1., Figure 2.) All of the information in the tables is important, but the main purpose of the tables is to present the numbers that show the risk, survival or other measures for each topic. The caption for a graph will have different information than that for a map; however, the caption's job is to explain to the reader what is illustrated; we do not use the word ?title? synonymously with ?caption?. Tables: The caption goes above the table. Figures: The caption goes below the figure.
