When you are going to war in CK3 and you conquer a duchy that is part of a kingdom, slowly over the process of 100 years will pieces close to the conquered duchy of that kingdom begin to incorporate themselves into your kingdom and become yours de jure.

The best way to keep your kingdom together in CK3 is to change the succession law to a Single Heir law. The Primogeniture, Ultimogeniture, and House Seniority laws make sure that only one person will receive your titles when your character dies, guaranteeing you keep your kingdom together.

Empire. Empire is the highest level of the landed titles and has De Jure Claim under all lower levels under their realm. A character who has an Empire is called an emperor.

In general, a title will be assimilated after being controlled for 100 years. The duration required for assimilation is decreased by the Chancellor task "Integrate Title". Every duchy in the game is considered to be part of a specific de jure kingdom.

You need to control 50+% of the De Jure territory of Duchy (check the dejure map or title screen to see the needed provinces). After than you need 200 gold to usurp/create a duchy. Usurping gives 50 prestige and pisses of the previous owner, creating gives 200 prestige.

Then so long as all the laws of both titles were identical, the holder would gain an "integrate titles" decision that if pressed would instantly make all the de jure land of the merged title de jure to one's primary title.

Have only one type of your highest title. If you highest title is a county and you have multiple of them then yeah, you're going to lose them in the succession. However, if your highest title is a duchy, make sure you only have one duchy title.
