A claim represents a character's legal right to obtain a title which is not theirs and allows the creation of a claimant faction. If the title belongs to a vassal, the claim allows the liege to revoke the claimed title without incurring tyranny.

By far, the best Succession Laws in CK3 to choose from are Primogeniture and Ultimogeniture. These two laws will make sure that you don't lose anything and that you will know for sure who gets all of your territories. House Seniority is also a decent choice.

Empire is the highest level of the landed titles and has De Jure Claim under all lower levels under their realm.

Overextension: If a character is a Count or Duke, their realm can include a maximum of 30 County titles without penalties; for Dukes, this include the Counties controlled by their Count Vassals. Each county over the limit gives an overextension penalty that reduces the character's Gold income by -5%.

If this includes their primary title, they are that ruler's primary heir specifically. The player heir denotes the character who the player will continue playing as upon succession; this is always one's primary heir unless that character belongs to a different dynasty.

A character's highest-ranked title is the Primary Title and determines the realm's color and coat of arms. If a character owns multiple titles of the same highest rank they can freely choose which one is the Primary title.

The idea is, that if you completely control a de-jure territory one tier below yours, it will slowly become part of your de jure-title. So if you're a king, you need to hold a whole duchy for 100 years, etc.

All titles are inherited by the oldest house member. With male preference, younger men take precedence over older women; vice versa for female preference.
