Integrate Year Permit For Free

A foreigner entering Switzerland for the first time usually first receives a residence permit (B). A permanent residence permit (C) can only be issued after the person has lived in Switzerland for a certain period of time established by domestic law or an international agreement.

The integration agreement serves to integrate third-country nationals who are legally settled in Austria and aims at the acquisition of advanced German language skills and knowledge of the democratic system and the fundamental principles derivable from it.

To obtain a C-permanent settlement permit (Niederlassungsbewilligung) applicants need to demonstrate A1 level reading and writing and A2 level speaking and listening. The time limits still depend on EU (5 years residence) or non-EU nationality (10 years residence).

The C permit is granted on request of the applicant on two conditions: If the applicant has lived in Switzerland for at least 10 years on a B or L permit (permits N, F are not taken into account) and if the last 5 years have been spent in the country without any interruption (art. 34 let. a LEI).

The settlement permit (C permit) offers a more stable status than the residence permit (B permit). After a period of 5 to 10 years, depending on the nationality and the reason for the stay, it is possible for a B-permit holder person to apply for a C permit.

C permit: this is a settlement permit that is issued to foreign nationals after five or ten years' residence in Switzerland. The conditions for granting it may vary depending on the person's country of origin, family situation and level of integration. The permit is valid indefinitely.
