Symbol Hiding By default, Xcode just leaves every symbol in a library visible, unless it is obviously private (like static functions or inlined ones, or in Swift ones declared internal or private). Click on Word Options. In the left pane of the Word Options dialog, click on Display. Locate the Paragraph marks option under the Always show these formatting marks on the screen section and uncheck the checkbox beside it to have Word hide the symbols.

If you press Ctrl + Shift + 8 on your keyboard then it will either show or hide the paragraph marks. Any changes that you make to the formatting display setting will apply to the entire document.

Invisible characters in Word are just formatting marks. They are used in Word to show the layout of a document. You can see arrows (for tabs), dots for spaces, an anchor for an object anchor and so on and you know exactly how the text is built for example where a paragraph starts and where it ends.

Select the hidden text and use Ctrl+Shift+H or the Font > Hidden setting to unhide the text. If you've got a lot of hidden text to unhide, or you don't want to search the whole document for hidden text, no problem.

Both the keyboard and mouse methods of showing hidden characters act as toggles. So to hide the characters again, just press Control+Shift+8 or click the Show/Hide button again.
