Typically, Section 8 will pay the difference between 30% of the household's income and the FMR for the unit. For example, if the FMR for a two-bedroom unit in Baltimore is $1,200 per month and the household's income is $1,000 per month, Section 8 would pay $800 per month towards the rent.
