Link Record For Free

One of the unique aspects of managing your information in a database is the power of linking records together across tables. Linked records can eliminate redundancy, enforce data integrity, and enable new methods of automationturning your list of records into a fully fledged custom app.

Through Airtable Sync, you can automatically sync views (and the records within them) from one base to another. To learn more about using Sync click here. While we do not support linking to individual records across bases at this time, a common workaround is to simply put all related tables into the same base.

Once your linked record field has been created, you can create links using the linked record picker. To bring up the linked record picker while in a grid view, click the + button inside a cell. To bring up the linked record picker while in an expanded record, click the + Link to a record from table button.

When linking two tables together, by creating a linked record field, Airtable automatically establishes a co-dependent relationship by creating another linked record field in the second table. This relationship allows the two tables to share information freely with one another based on the records you choose to link.
