To take the LSAT remotely, you'll need: A quiet, well-lit, private work area within a fully enclosed room (no transparent/glass walls or doors), where you can complete the test without interruption. A hard work surface, such as a desk or table, and a chair.

LSAC doesn't officially let you leave the building for smoking breaks (enforcement varies). The LSAT is over 4 hours, and that's assuming everything goes well. One last thing: this should go without saying, but don't smoke while you're taking full-length practice tests, since you won't be able to on Test Day.

I took a few basic steps to prevent any confusion. LSAC is very clear that only approved testing materials should be on your desk or workspace during the exam. The first thing I did to prepare for the LSAT-Flex is clear of all non-essentials, leaving only a desk lamp, my laptop, and my testing materials on the desk.

What kind of equipment do I need in order to take the LSAT at a test center? All equipment and materials, including scratch paper and pencils, will be provided by Prometric to all test takers who choose to test at a testing center.

Use of scratch paper is not permitted during LSAT Writing, unless requested and approved as a testing accommodation. (The LSAT Writing interface includes a digital ?Scratch Paper? section where test takers can type notes, instead of writing them on a physical piece of scratch paper.)

Protip: Wear casual, comfortable clothing. Your favorite t-shirt, sweatshirt, jeans, and sneakers work well. If you're a girl (or like to dress like one), you can also go the Juicy sweatpants route. You don't know whether the test center will be hot or cold, so layers are a good idea.

Make sure that your desk space is completely clear other than the allowed items, make sure any screens/electronics in the room are turned off, and there aren't any notes or pieces of paper with writing on them displayed throughout the room that could be brought into question by the proctor.

Most normal people, however, go for water. Be careful not to drink too much if your bladder capacity isn't optimal; they won't stop the test if you need a bathroom break. Also, if you're taking the test at a college of some sort, there will probably be water fountains.
