In the Quest 2 app it says the max resolution is 5408 x 2736. The minimum resolution is 2432x1216, and I can change it to many different combinations in between.

1920x1080 is plenty of resolution for rectilinear videos in today's VR headsets. Traditional video playback in VR is almost always done on a virtual screen in an immersive environment. A 1920x1080 video is enough to saturate Meta Quest 2's display of a virtual screen that is more than 90 degrees wide.

With it being installed, you can adjust the resolution in the app, all the way up to 5408 x 2736. Remember that the 'recommended' render resolution (the vertical line on the bar) will shift based on your refresh rate. If you plan to play at higher refresh rates, your resolution will change if you keep it on Automatic.

Oculus Quest can output 1400 × 1600 resolution images at 72 Hz. The Quest 2, despite its inferior LCD, can produce 1832 × 1920 resolution images at a 72 to 120 Hz refresh rate.

By default, the headset records in a aspect ratio (1024 x 1024 pixels), whilst this is okay for some use cases, a lot of the time footage in a aspect ratio would be better suited and more appropriate.

Link graphics performance preferences Open the Oculus Desktop app on your computer. Click Devices on the left side of the app. Click Quest 2 or Quest Pro. Scroll down to Graphics Preferences. Here, you can adjust your Refresh Rate and Render Resolution.

I use my Quest 2 almost 100% for PC Link via the Link Cable. I have my graphics preferences set to 120hz and 1.5x in the rendering resolution which equates to 4128x2096. I notice that this is WAY higher than the default 1x 2816 x 1424.
