Manipulate Conditional Field Resolution For Free

Look for the copy of the workflow in the page ? > Issues > Workflows and click on the Edit button next to it. This copy will be a temporary workflow that we will edit and use to fix the issue resolution field.

Go to post-functions -> Update Field Value -> Resolution = Done. Publish workflow. Go to issue navigator -> search JQL -> Bulk Change -> Transition all issues from Resolved to Resolved. After finishing, revert the workflow back.

The resolution field is a special one, and you can only edit it if you add it to a screen, change it as part of a post function, or set it using an automation.

You cannot make it an optional field, there are built-in functionality in Jira that uses this field, so to make it "optional", do not add it to a screen besides the view one, and use post functions in your workflow to set it.

Resolution Set Using a POST Function Locate your Workflow: > Issues > Workflows. Click Edit under Actions for your workflow. Select your "Done" transition, and Click POST Functions. Click 'Add POST Function > Select 'Update Issue Field' Select Resolution for Issue Field and the appropriate Field Value.
