Prose manuscripts should be double-spaced with margins of an inch to an inch and a quarter. (Poetry can be single-spaced.) Stay away from fancy fonts. Use one that is easily readable, like Times, and a size that is comfortable, like 12 point.

On the Insert tab, in the "Header & Footer" group, click Page Number. Click Top of Page, Bottom of Page, or Page Margins, depending on where you want page numbers to appear in your document.

Click on the Layout tab. Select Breaks 2192 Sections Breaks 2192 Next Page. Put the cursor on the page where the page numbering should start (that is section two in the document). Click on the Insert tab and Page Number.
