If you want to hide the page number for instance on the page number 2 then do the following 1- place the cursor at the beginning of the page 2 2- go to PAGE LAYOUT 3- BREAKS 4- SECTION BREAKS I CONTINUOUS 5- Now go to page numbering and check the box Different First Page Watch the video for how it works!

On the master page, select the header or footer that contains the page number mark (#), select the page number mark (#) inside the header or footer, and then press DELETE.

Remove page numbers in a sectionOn the first page of the section from which you want to remove page numbers, double-click the header or footer to open it. In the toolbar and choose Page Number. in the toolbar, click the Document tab at the top of the sidebar, then click the arrows or enter values in the Top and Bottom fields (below the Header and Footer checkboxes). Hide on first page of section: Hide the header or footer on the first page.

Instead of the automatically added page numbers, click Ctrl+F9 to add the special brackets: Enter IF and then again click Ctrl+9 to add PAGE field to get the current page number: Enter <> (not equal) and then number of the page in quotes that you want to hide, in this example, "7" :

Click the Layout tab. In the Page Setup group, click the Breaks dropdown and choose Next from the Section Breaks section (Figure E). Notice that the page number (2) disappears!

First set each chapter as a section under Page layout and insert section breaks. Go to the first page of the chapter (or section) you want to change. Now you can delete the page number for your first pages.

Click "Page Number" on the "Insert" tab in the "Header and Footer" group, and select the page numbers you want. Word will begin numbering pages again, still counting the pages on which you omitted the numbers. Repeat the process as necessary.

Click on the first page of your document and then click Insert Menu -> Page Numbers to display the Page Numbers dialog box. Select the positioning for your page numbers. Uncheck 'Show number on first page'.

Create your document as usual with page numbering in your header or footer. Go to the end of the last page containing text in your document. Click Insert Menu -> Break. In the Break dialog box, select Next Page in the Section break section and click OK.
