You and your parents must be Illinois residents. Undergraduates who haven't earned a bachelor's or professional degree are eligible. This grant is awarded to students with an expected family contribution of less than 9,000. 2023-2024 awards vary from $300 to $8,400.

The annual award amount displayed on the MAP system at start-up is based on the assumption that a student will be enrolled the equivalent of 15 semester credit hours each term. The annual award represents the maximum amount the student may be paid for the year.

Only those courses required for degree-completion will be considered for financial aid payment. In addition, MAP grants may only be used for tuition and mandatory fees, but does not cover other charges. In addition, MAP grants are non-refundable to the student.

To be eligible, you must: be a U.S. citizen or an eligible noncitizen or meet the ?undocumented student? criteria of the RISE Act. be an Illinois resident (if you are a dependent, the parent whose information is used on the FAFSA must be an Illinois resident) demonstrate financial need.

At its June 22, 2023 meeting, the Illinois Student Assistance Commission approved a recompute formula that increases the maximum 2023-24 MAP award from $7,200 to $8,400 and the living allowance from $5,020 to $5,200.
