Merge Text Record For Free

The DNS 'text' (TXT) record lets a domain administrator enter text into the Domain Name System (DNS). The TXT record was originally intended as a place for human-readable notes. However, now it is also possible to put some machine-readable data into TXT records. One domain can have many TXT records.

Sender Policy Framework (SPF) specification comes with a limit of only 10 DNS SPF lookups per SPF record. If you are a domain owner and planning to add an SPF record to the DNS database, ensure that this limit is not exceeded, or else your SPF record check will fail.

To merge the SPF values, include all the parts into one single record without repeating any mechanisms. If one of the records (or both) has an ?a? mechanism, it should only be included once at the beginning. If one of the records (or both) consists of an ?mx? mechanism, it should also be included once.

It is only possible to have one SPF record in the DNS zone of your domain. Having more than one SPF record will make the authentication impossible, and some hosting providers won't even allow you to have more than one.

The SPF PTR record mechanism is crucial in email authentication, allowing the receiver to verify the sender's domain. SPF PTR records are not recommended since they add complexities, slows down the lookup process, may lead to DNS timeouts and false negatives during authentication.

Don't use multiple SPF records! A domain name MUST NOT have multiple records that would cause an authorization check to select more than one record. The rule of thumb: multiple SPF records will fail the SPF authentication.
