Moving Checklist Add Calculated Field For Free

In Power Pivot, you can add new data to a table by creating a calculated column. The new column can then be used in PivotTables, PivotCharts, and reports just like any other column. Calculated columns require you enter a DAX formula.

To add a calculated field: Select a cell in the pivot table, and on the Excel Ribbon, under the PivotTable Tools tab, click the Options tab (Analyze tab in Excel 2013). In the Calculations group, click Fields, Items, & Sets, and then click Calculated Field. Click Add to save the calculated field, and click Close.

Create a calculated fieldIn Tableau, select Analysis > Create Calculated Field.In the Calculation Editor that opens, do the following: Enter a name for the calculated field.When finished, click OK. The new calculated field is added to Measures in the Data pane because it returns a number.
