Any website asking users for information requires an SSL certificate to prevent cyber criminals from intercepting data. Confidential information isn't just credit card numbers; it could mean any personal information, including an email address or phone number.

When an SSL certificate is installed on a company's web server, connections with that website will be secure. Information will be sent via port 443 using the https protocol. SSL Certificates are used by websites to secure sessions with web browsers.

Digital certificates identify computers, phones, apps, and other devices for security. Just like you'd use your driver's license to show that you can legally drive, a digital certificate identifies your device and confirms that it should be able to access something.

Go to chrome://settings. On the left, click Privacy and security. Click Security. Scroll to Advanced. Click Manage certificates. In the list, find the newly-added CAs.

Disabling SSL can create a security exposure where a malicious user within the network can attack the system. For secure connections, create a self-signed certificate that identifies the host by its network name, or request a certificate that is signed by a trusted certificate authority (CA).

Assumption: A link certificate is used, when an old certificate is replaced by a new one. The link certificate is the new certificate signed with the old private key. So that with the old public key, the new certificate could be verified.

Click on Security. Under device security, locate the Encryption & Credentials tab and click on it. Under credentials storage, click on Trusted credentials. A list of all certificates will appear.
