Under normal circumstances, fail grades can't be removed from your academic transcript. We are required to release transcripts with all unit results. However, if you were unable to complete units due to extenuating circumstances, you may be able to apply for 'Withdrawal Without Academic Penalty'.

If you fail a class, you'll get a 0 on your transcript ? and that can bring down your GPA. Failed classes count toward your GPA, though some colleges do not count pass/fail classes in your GPA calculation.

The only way to "erase" a bad transcript is to create a new, better one. Start at a local community college. Prove that you have what it takes and then transferring to another school should be much easier. This idea of erasing your transcripts and starting over isn't a good one.

We recommend addressing the 'bad' semester directly, in whatever detail you feel comfortable with. Life happens to everyone, and the faculty reviewers understand that grades can suffer when you experience a trauma. Sometimes, that's an extended illness, the death of a loved one, or a bad breakup.

Not many people seem to know about this- but if you ever changed majors, and you have lackluster grades from classes specific to your old major, you can go to an academic counselor at your college or university and ask for those grades to be wiped from your transcript, possibly raising your GPA.

Limitations. The transcript displays the official record of classes students enroll in during school, so most grades cannot be changed or removed.

It's a part of your academic history. You can't wipe away or replace history. Even if you could retake it, the failed course would remain on your transcript at most universities. That F would simply not be used in calculating your GPA.
