Vulcanized natural rubber sponges can be very useful when cleaning paper. Sponges are more effective than brushes, but have greater potential for damage. They are not as effective or abrasive as plastic erasers. Suitable sponges are available from several archival supply companies.

1 - Don't use paper towels or tissue paper, toilet paper or old rags. They definitely can scratch your screen or leave grooves in the material. It might not be enough to notice it right away, but combined with the wrong cleaning product, they will create the damage on your screen.

2. Gently wipe down the screen with a lint-free microfiber cloth, such as the lens cloth you use for your eyeglasses or sunglasses. Avoid using a tissue or paper towel, because both can leave a residue on the screen or scratch a screen's protective coating.

Small, localized deposits of dirt may be reduced by gentle rubbing with a surface cleaning sponge or a piece of a vinyl block eraser. When using the latter, cut the eraser into a wedge, pencil-point, or whatever will result in the best cleaning shape for this piece.

Avoid using toilet paper, paper towels, tissue paper, or etc. to wipe the screen. These materials can scratch the display and these scratch marks are not repairable. Avoid using strong cleaning products that contain ammonia, ethyl alcohol, toluene, paint solvents, acetone or ethyl acetate to clean the display.

To clean an old book, remove stubborn dust by brushing it off with a dry paint brush or a soft toothbrush. If there are smudges or pencil marks in the book, get a gum eraser from an art supply store and erase the marks with it, working in one direction to avoid crinkling or ripping the pages.
