Fields can be marked as mandatory, meaning they must contain a value before the record can be saved. Mandatory fields are marked with a field status indicator before the label.

Mandatory fields are used when information is required in order to submit a form. If the mandatory field is left empty, the system will display this field in red and not allow the form to be published or submitted without that field completed.

A distinctive sign (?*? symbol, ?mandatory? mention, etc.) must be provided in the label of each mandatory field. If a symbol is used to declare mandatory fields, a statement placed at the beginning of the form must indicate that the symbol stands for a mandatory field.

Make a field mandatory Right-click the field's label in the form and select Configure Dictionary. In the Dictionary form, select the Mandatory check box. Click Update. The next time the form is opened, a field status indicator appears next to the field label, indicating that a value is mandatory.
