Proofread Footnote Text For Free

Add footnotes and endnotes Click where you want to add the footnote. Click Insert > Insert Footnote. Word inserts a reference mark in the text and adds the footnote mark at the bottom of the page. Type the footnote text.

Jump to a footnote or endnote To move to the footnote reference text at the end of the page, press the SR key+Insert. You hear the footnote or endnote reference, such as ?Footnote 1.? To read the footnote or endnote, press the SR key+R.

How it works Footnotes or endnotes must be placed in a <Note> tag. The reference character is placed in a label <Lbl> and the body of the note is placed in a <P> tag. Each Note must have a unique ID. A Reference tag will appear in the screen reader link list although it does not contain link capabilities.

Place the cursor where you want to add a footnote, and type a number or symbol, like "1". Select Insert > Header & Footer. On the Slide tab, select Footer, and in the Footer box, type the number or symbol you added in step 1, and then type the text that you want to appear in the footnote at the bottom of your slide.

Footnotes should be numbered consecutively in the order they appear throughout your paper. Each note should have a unique number; don't use the same number again even if you cite the same source repeatedly. Footnote numbers are usually placed at the end of the relevant clause or sentence.

Enter what you want in the footnote or endnote. Return to your place in the document by double-clicking the number or symbol at the beginning of the note.

In a footnote referencing system, you indicate a reference by: Putting a small number above the line of type directly following the source material. This number is called a note identifier. It sits slightly above the line of text.
