Once the order has been placed, the purchase order remains ?open.? An open purchase order is a PO where the order is placed but the goods have not yet been received, or it can mean that only part of the order has been received. Either way, it signifies that the delivery of the goods is not complete.

Open An order is in open status after the purchase order (PO) has been issued to the vendor. An order is in closed status when all of the transactions have been completed (i.e., the items have been received and invoiced). An order is in cancelled status when the entire order is cancelled.

The contract or Purchase Order can be closed as soon as the goods or services are received and the final invoice is paid. Most purchases fall under this type.

Reopen a Closed Purchase Order On the Closed purchase orders page or in an opened purchase order, in the Actions menu, select Reopen. The Reopen Purchase Order window appears. In the Comments field, enter a comment and then click OK. The PO is reopened with the status it was in when it was closed.

You can archive orders that you're no longer interested in referencing, or to stop the order from showing in the default order history view. To archive an order: Go to Your Orders and locate the order or item you want to archive. Select Archive order.
