Writes a single data record into an Amazon Kinesis data stream. Call PutRecord to send data into the stream for real-time ingestion and subsequent processing, one record at a time. Each shard can support writes up to 1,000 records per second, up to a maximum data write total of 1 MiB per second.

The KPL supports two types of batching: Aggregation ? Storing multiple records within a single Kinesis Data Streams record. Collection ? Using the API operation PutRecords to send multiple Kinesis Data Streams records to one or more shards in your Kinesis data stream.

You can add data to a Kinesis stream via PutRecord and PutRecords operations, or Kinesis Producer Library (KPL). Q: What is the difference between PutRecord and PutRecords? PutRecord operation allows a single data record within an API call and PutRecords operation allows multiple data records within an API call.

The PutRecord() operation sends one data record while the PutRecordBatch() operation can send multiple data records to the delivery stream in a single invocation.

PutRecord returns the shard ID of where the data record was placed and the sequence number that was assigned to the data record. Sequence numbers increase over time and are specific to a shard within a stream, not across all shards within a stream.

Writes multiple data records into a delivery stream in a single call, which can achieve higher throughput per producer than when writing single records. To write single data records into a delivery stream, use PutRecord. Applications using these operations are referred to as producers.

Each PutRecords request can support up to 500 records.

The sequence number for the record is unique across all records in the stream. A sequence number is the identifier associated with every record put into the stream. The shard ID of the shard where the data record was placed.

A shard has a sequence of data records in a stream. It serves as a base throughput unit of a Kinesis data stream. A shard supports 1 MB/second and 1,000 records per second for writes and 2 MB/second for reads.

Represents a two-part sequence number for records aggregated by the Kinesis Producer Library. The KPL combines multiple user records into a single Kinesis record. Each user record therefore has an integer sub-sequence number, in addition to the regular sequence number of the Kinesis record.
