Recover Name Field For Free

Basically all the data still exist and is stored with the exception of an actual delete. However when you delete a context accidentally from a custom field, it basically removes the association of the data to the field itself.

Deleted custom fields and their data are stored until your org permanently deletes them or 15 days has elapsed, whichever happens first. Until that time, you can restore the field and its data. For information on restoring deleted custom fields and relationships, see Manage Deleted Custom Fields.

Go to sys_metadata_delete. list (Deleted Applications File) in the Filter Navigator. Query where name = 'Display name of deleted field' (In this case it is VIP Flag) and click on the Dictionary Entry record. Click on Restore File.

From Setup, go to Object Manager and [Object Name], followed by Fields & Relationships. Then click on Deleted Field at the top of the screen. From the Deleted Fields screen you have the option to Erase and Undelete. Deleted fields will stay here for 15 days unless you erase them (permanently hard delete) or undelete.

The data remains on your hard drive until it's overwritten by new data. This means that someone with access to your device could potentially recover deleted data using data recovery software. Data recovery software works by scanning your hard drive for data that has been marked as deleted but not yet overwritten.

For existing jobs that have data associated with the custom field before deletion, the field and associated data will remain after you delete it.

Restored fields are no longer marked as unique ? edit the field and mark as unique if needed. Deleted fields are removed from any AppExchange package(s), so you'll need to re-add the field to the package/s.
