By default, back-adjustment is disabled. You can enable it on a chart with a continuous in two ways: By using the b-adj (Adjust for contracts changes) button at the bottom. By checking the Adjust for contracts changes checkbox in the settings.

Unlike individual futures contracts, continuous series do not expire until the actual future contract ceases to exist. For each type a future continuous series can be calculated from all traded months or traditional months.

Methods to build a continuous futures. To build a futures continuation, you need to adjust the contracts back in time. These adjustments are made as there can be a price difference between the first contract and the second contract on expiry.

What is a continuous futures chart? Continuous futures charts categorize futures into current, near, and far months, rather than plotting charts for a specific month. Since all futures contracts expire within three months, historical charts provide a maximum of three months of available data.

Continuous Futures Contract charts which use back adjustments will have price data for prior contract months adjusted either up or down relative to the price difference to the next contract month in the chart. The most recent contract month in the chart is not adjusted.
