The FAFSA code for Bates is 002036 and the CSS Profile Code is 3076. It should be noted that while the FAFSA is free, the CSS Profile does require an application fee. However, students can qualify for a CSS Profile application fee waiver if the cost will present a financial hardship for the students' family.

Submit your application fee The application fee for Bates is U.S. $60, and can be submitted via the Common Application or Coalition Application. Eligible students can obtain and submit a fee waiver from the Common Application, Coalition Application, ACT, College Board, or NACAC.

Transfer students are eligible for need-based financial aid and are guaranteed campus housing. Though we don't require a minimum GPA, students who transfer to Bates generally have a college GPA in the range of 3.5 or higher (out of 4.0) in a challenging liberal arts and sciences curriculum.

Does Bates offer need-based financial aid to international students? Yes. Bates meets 100% of demonstrated financial need for all admitted students, regardless of citizenship status. Your financial aid package will consist of scholarship grants and on-campus employment.

Bates meets 100 percent of the calculated need of our enrolled students through a combination of grant aid, student loans, and student employment. Student loans and/or employment assistance may be offered if a student's calculated need is low.
