The Alberta child and family benefit (ACFB) is a tax-free amount paid to families that have children under 18 years of age. For July 2023 to June 2024, you may be entitled to receive the following amounts: $1,410 ($117.50 per month) for the first child. $705 ($58.75 per month) for the second child.

Parents will see reduced fees starting in early 2022, and can expect to pay an average of: $10 per day if they earn up to $119,999. $11 to $17 per day if they earn between $120,000 and $179,999. $22.19 per day if they earn $180,000 and above.

Only children below the age of six years old that are enrolled in a participating licensed daycare are eligible for $10 a day daycare. The daycare can either be a licensed home daycare or a daycare center. As a parent, you do not have to submit any application forms in order to access the benefits of $10 a day daycare.

In general, all types of child care in Canada (except Quebec) are primarily paid for by parents, with some provinces/territories paying some direct operating costs of regulated child care (which reduces parent fees).
