Sort Initials Settlement For Free

Determine the turn order. There are four colors included with the Base Catan 3-4 player set: red, blue, white, and orange. After the player with the highest dice roll has chosen his or her color, have everyone else choose and then begin the turns. Turns progress in a clockwise manner.

Initial Placement: Ore and Wheat - in that order - are the most important resources, for 2 reasons: [1] you need 3 Ore and only 2 Wheat to upgrade, and [2] there are only 3 Ore tiles but 4 Wheat tiles. Ideally you would be able to put both your initial settlements bordering 2 Ore and 1 Wheat each.

Example:Blue receives 1 ore, 1 stone, and 1 feather for his settlement (C). Important: Keep your resource/goods cards in your hand secret. Starting Player: Each player rolls the dice. The highest roller goes first.

In initial settlement placement, go for maximizing number and variety of resources. Don't try and monopolize a particular resource, and don't go for a port (both of which are more defensive, slower, and less luck-dependent). Place your settlements so they can be connected to form longest road.

If your settlements border 5 or 6 different numbers, you're much more likely to collect resources. Ideally, you would be able to place your first settlement on a 4, 5, 6 intersection and your second settlement on an 8, 9, 10 intersection (or some other combination that yeilds those same six numbers).

During the setup phase, the start player places a settlement on any empty intersection of the hexagons. They also place a road on one of the paths next to it. Placement continues clockwise until all players have placed one settlement and road.

The starting player places a settlement on an open intersection of his choice. He places a road adjacent to this settlement. The other players then follow clockwise. Everyone places 1 settlement and 1 adjoining road.
