Data sorting is any process that involves arranging the data into some meaningful order to make it easier to understand, analyze or visualize. When working with research data, sorting is a common method used for visualizing data in a form that makes it easier to comprehend the story the data is telling.

In the Sort cell, select Ascending or Descending. An ascending sort displays the record with the smallest value on top and the record with the largest value at the bottom. A descending sort does the opposite. On the Home tab, in the Sort & Filter group, click Toggle Filter.

Sorting is the process of arranging data into meaningful order so that you can analyze it more effectively. For example, you might want to order sales data by calendar month so that you can produce a graph of sales performance.

Manual reorder You can reorder record links by expanding a cell within a linked record field, and clicking and dragging the links.

Click and drag the field you want to sort by first to the first column of your datasheet. (You can also select the fields by clicking on the first row of any column in the datasheet, and using the drop-down menu.) From the row marked ?Sort? in the datasheet's first column, select ?Ascending ? or ?Descending?.

Choose Current Table (TableName) from the tables list, then double-click a field in the list. For each sort field, in the fields list, select a field, select a sort order, then click Move. In the fields list, select a field, select Custom order based on value list, then choose or define a value list.

On the Home tab, in the Sort & Filter group, click Advanced and then click Advanced Filter/Sort on the shortcut menu. A new document tab appears, containing a design grid and a window in which you can select a field on which to sort. In the window, double-click the field that you want to use to sort.

To sort the records in the current found set: In Browse mode, click Sort in the status toolbar. In the Sort Records dialog box, choose fields for sorting, in the order you want them sorted.
