The Semantic Versioning system, often abbreviated SemVer, uses a 3 number strategy to specify the evolution of software changes. A specific version of software will be versioned like 1.0. 0 where the first number represents the major version, the second is the minor version, and the third is the patch version.

The version number is increased by one digit, depending on the type of changes made in the new versioning. For example, software version 1.3. 1 means that the software is in its first major version, with three additional functionalities added, and one patch fix implemented.

0.1.0 is a work in progress, you can expect that this software is not stable or should be used on production environments. new versions are likely to break functionality. 1.0.0 is the first stable release. 1.1. 0 is the first feature release.

A specific version of software will be versioned like 1.0. 0 where the first number represents the major version, the second is the minor version, and the third is the patch version. Major, minor, and patch denote what type of changes a new version of software contains.

A major release introduces wide-ranging changes to the existing software version, including new features to improve the user experience. Minor release. A minor release introduces small improvements to the software's functionality.

PATCH version, where a MAJOR version bump involves breaking changes, a MINOR version bump adds functionality without breaking anything, and a PATCH version provides bug fixes (to existing functionality) that don't break anything.

A normal version number MUST take the form X.Y.Z where X, Y, and Z are non-negative integers, and MUST NOT contain leading zeroes. X is the major version, Y is the minor version, and Z is the patch version. Each element MUST increase numerically. For instance: 1.9.0 -> 1.10.0 -> 1.11.0.
