Using the Footnotes drop-down list at the top of the Footnotes window, choose Footnote Separator. The current separator appears in the window, and the insertion point should be within the separator. Move a footnote or an endnote To move or copy a note, you work with the note reference mark in the document window, not with the text of the note. Select the note reference mark. Drag the mark to the new location.

Re: copying footnotes between documents You can also insert a section where you want the copy to be pasted, in the properties, check the Link option, browse and select your file, select the section if there is one and afterwards, remove that section, it keeps both the text and its footnotes.
