It's fine to give your baby room temperature or even cold formula. If your baby prefers warm formula, place a filled bottle in a bowl of warm water or run under warm water. Test the temperature by putting a couple of drops on the back of your hand or wrist. The formula should feel lukewarm ? not hot.

If not used immediately, when made up infant formula must be stored in a sterilised bottle or container at the back of the fridge, in the centre where it is coldest. Discard un-used infant formula after 24 hours if refrigerated.

Toss any bottles your baby doesn't finish within an hour and any bottles that sit out for more than two hours ? and don't reheat formula that has been warmed before. You can prepare a day's worth of bottles in advance and store them in the fridge for up to 24 hours.

It's also best to prepare each bottle right before you feed your baby. But if you need to prepare infant formula in advance, refrigerate the formula below 5?C within 1 hour of making it, and use within 24 hours. Store it in the back of the fridge where it's coldest, not in the door where it's warmer.
