Among the kinds of page breaks, there are simple page breaks, column breaks, and text wrapping breaks. The different kinds of section breaks include next page, continuous, even page, and odd page breaks.

Word automatically adds a break at the end of each page. You can also insert a manual page break anytime you want to start a new page in your document. Put your cursor where you want one page to end and the next to begin. Go to Insert > Page Break.

Insert a horizontal or vertical manual page break Select the row that is underneath the row where you want the page to break. Select the column that is to the right of the column where you want the page to break. On the Layout tab, under Page Setup, click Breaks, and then click Insert Page Break.

Using page breaks, your text will retain the formatting of the previous page in your document. Using a page break will also ensure that the space between pages remains intact, whatever changes you make.

A page break simply pushes any information after that page break onto the next page; a section break essentially splits your document into different parts to allow you to apply complex formatting to your document. A section break should not be used instead of a page break in your document.

Page breaks are used to end a page without filling it with text. To make sure the title page of your thesis/dissertation is separate from the signature page, for example, insert a page break after the graduation date on the title page.

The Break option is seen under the page setup group of MS-Word documents. This option is titled in the page layout tab. The break option is used by the users to insert pages, section breaks into documents, and columns.
