Addresses (ZIP code present) USPS abbreviations are used for both the street address and state, and there is no punctuation in the lines for the street address or city, state and ZIP code. Write to Paul and Mary Moore, 1313 E Main St, Portage MI 49024-2001.

Write the mailing address of the recipient, starting with the street and city on the third line, and state and zip code on the fourth line. If the recipient is in another country, indicate the name of the country in the fourth line.

Treat the address as a noun phrase, with comma separation. No need to include the country unless you really don't think the person addressed knows where Chicago, Illinois is. If so, you can put it as a separate sentence - "That's in America".

Use commas with places, cities, and addresses: My parents moved to Miami, Florida. Do you live at 115 North Street, Chesapeake, VA 23321? (There is no comma before zip code; also, there is no comma after zip code UNLESS the address appears in the middle of the sentence.)

These should be placed on the same line as the street address. Place the city, state, and ZIP Code in that order on the last line. This must be the last line. Never place an ?attention line,? telephone number, or other entries after the ZIP Code line.

When it comes to USA zip codes, they are always 5 digits long. However, sometimes these codes may also include leading zeros. If you store these zip codes as integers, any leading zeros would be stripped, resulting in missing data. As such, it's usually better to store zip codes as 5 character strings.
