Style Date Log For Free

The logged output of a logger can be customized to any format, such as an XML or a human readable format. Typically each logging Handler will have a Formatter associated with it. The Formatter takes a LogRecord and converts it to a string.

A logging Formatter class giving timestamps in a more common ISO 8601 format. format, "YYYY-MM-DD hh:mm:ss,sss", is much less common than, "YYYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ss. sss". and the separator for fractional seconds is a comma instead of a period (full stop).

In traditional American usage, dates are written in the month?day?year order (e.g. October 11, 2023) with a comma before and after the year if it is not at the end of a sentence, and time in 12-hour notation ( am).

Specifying the Date and Time Format to Use in Log Entries. By default, log entries in all logs shown in Integration Server Administrator use the format yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss. You can change this format to any other format that is supported by the Java class java.

To display the date and time of an event, you would place '%(asctime)s' in your format string: import logging logging.basicConfig(format='%(asctime)s %(message)s') logging.warning('is when this event was logged.') which should print something like this: 2010-12-12 :42,612 is when this event was logged.

For date, always include four digit year and use numbers for months. For example, the date format yyyy-mm-dd would appear as 2011-03-15 (March 15, 2011). If Julian day is used, make sure the year field is also supplied. For example, mmm.
