Open the PDF document that you would like to edit. On the right-hand side of Acrobat, click Edit PDF. Located on the center of the top edit toolbar, click Header and Footer. If a Header or Footer exists, click Update otherwise click Add. When finished with the Header or Footer, click OK to save the changes.

Select Edit > Insert > Bates Numbering > Remove to permanently remove Bates numbers from currently open files. Other header and/or footer elements, if any, are retained. An information box instructs you how to interpret the results of the operation.

In Adobe Acrobat Pro, you can add or modify headers and footers: Select Document > Header & Footer > Add... In the Add Header and Footer tool, specify text and formats for headers and footers in your document. Use the Previews to make sure the text, fonts, and layout are as you want them for your document.

Dynamic text: Automatically insert dynamic information like page numbers, author, document title, date and time. Headers: Insert document title, chapters and date information. Footers: Insert page numbering, date, and time information.
