The criteria of the grades and a description of the different forms (normally a monograph) of a thesis are available on the faculty's website.

The text of the thesis must be in paragraph form. the first line of each paragraph must be indented, OR. there must be a larger space between paragraphs than there is between lines.

Similarly, you may need to gain at least a 60% score in your dissertation for a Merit, and at least a 70% score for a Distinction. Universities may excercise some discretion in borderline cases where a student performs exceptionally well in their modules but narrowly misses out on the equivalent dissertation grade.

Masters theses also receive a numerical mark and a letter grade ing to the Grading Scale for Masters Degrees (Research). A mark of 65% is required to pass. The tables in the Graduate Research Training Policy describe how examiners reports work.
